Five directions, five names

Open one on your phone: it behaves like the real app. You get a Home screen, the Answer sheet generator (print for the whole class, with the AHA logo), the Check flow (Quick tap or Scan), Results and the remediation Plan, with a tab bar at the bottom. The data and numbers are the same in all five. The mascot, colours, paper and type change. Every page has a Name picker, so any shortlisted name can be tried in any direction.

Direction 1 · AHA! Ahamigo Recommended

Built on AHA Learning Center's own brand, so the tool feels like it comes from AHA. It uses AHA's cream paper, ink outlines and pop shadows, the stacked yellow, red and blue folder tabs from their site, the tilted AHA!-style wordmark, and Baloo 2 with Poppins.

Mascot: Migo, the "!" from AHA's logo turned into a lightbulb buddy. It waves, focuses, thinks with a dim bulb and cheers.

Direction 2 · Pad Paper Tsekpad

The intermediate pad every Filipino classroom runs on. Blue rules and a red margin, a ballpoint-blue ink, and the red ballpen for every teacher action. It adds a gummed pad top, torn 1/4-sheet cards, a sticky note for the offline message, the score circled by hand, and a "Very Good!" star.

Mascot: a little red check mark with a teacher's ID lanyard. It waves, squints with a pen behind its ear, wonders, and hops with a star.

Direction 3 · Manila Folder Tsek

The teacher's desk. Manila folders with tabs for each screen, stamp-pad violet, and rubber stamps for "CHECKED", "READY" and "VERY GOOD!", plus paper clips, staples and brown tape. Saving a learner lands a stamp.

Mascot: a folded-manila chess knight with a red-pen sash. It nods, rides forward, studies a clipboard, and rears up with a star stamp.

Direction 4 · Malinaw (clear) Markglow Easiest on the eyes

Built for tired eyes, bright sun and dim classrooms. Low-glare paper and warm charcoal text, with body type at 17 px and nothing below 15 px. Even the quietest text is 6:1 contrast, tap targets are 48 px or larger, and there are few colours, each with a label.

Mascot: a Bohol tarsier whose huge eyes read every paper so yours can rest. It blinks, reads side to side, looks up to think, and hops when a plan is ready.

Tahimark home screen
Direction 5 · Tahi (stitch) Tahimark Alternate

Remediation as stitching each learning gap closed. Abaca cream, indigo ink, a madder-red thread and inabel weave edges. Cards are sewn-on patches, progress is a thread being sewn, and the gap to 75% is shown as open stitches. The three learner groups are braided threads.

Mascot: a needle whose red thread loops into a heart, a question mark or a star depending on its mood.

The names

One name per direction, each built the way OED's names were: what the app does, plus a lift, a mascot or the direction's idea. Domains were checked on 12 Oct 2026. Trademark (IPOPHL), .ph and social handles still need a check by hand. Full list in docs/01-brand/names-round-3.md.

AhamigoAHA!

AHA plus amigo: the teacher's friend from AHA. Needs AHA's OK to use its name.

The Filipino way to write "check". One syllable, impossible to forget. Watch: tsek.ph is UP's fact-check site.

Tarsimark (the tarsier that marks, .com and .app free), Markbloom (marks into growth, .app free), Markmend (mark, then mend, .com and .app free).

Recommendation (recommend, never pick)

Ahamigo in the AHA! direction for the pilot, if AHA is happy to lend its name. It makes the tool unmistakably AHA's, which helps with the teachers AHA already trains and with funders. I would fold in Malinaw's reading rules (17 px body, larger numbers) whichever direction wins.

Tsek is the strongest standalone name: one syllable that every teacher already says. Tahimark is the most ownable, with the .com free.
